Last week our Farming Assessment Manager Joel Ellis featured in an article for Waitrose’s Weekend Magazine, focusing on the importance of fish welfare and our unique 'Feet on the Farm' REP Assessment process.
In it, Joel outlines his role visiting every farm and production cycle — ensuring Aquascot receives the very best fish, farmed to the highest welfare standards. Visiting every farm often means travelling far and wide to small and remote islands which provide perfect conditions for the fish to grow, due to fast tides and pristine waters. This also presents exciting journeys and stays for Joel and his team, from flying on six-seater planes to staying in local bothies around Scotland.
For Joel, the best part of his job is meeting great people who are passionate about the welfare of their stock, travelling out in their boats everyday in often very cold and wet conditions, to ensure they provide great fish.
Great to have our Aquaculture team featured by Waitrose — well Done Joel!
