Innovation, Passion & Partnership

Since our initial establishment in 1987, the Aquascot story has been one of a small group of people in the Scottish Highlands who hold genuine passion for quality food farmed at sea and also a willingness to encourage innovation and do things differently to achieve our objectives.

Emerging in a burgeoning late-1980s salmon farming industry, the company grew, was sold in 2000, was reclaimed in 2003, and began its journey of employee ownership in 2008.

In 2020, we are one of the largest employee-owned businesses in Scotland – proud to be 100% managed by our partner employees, and just as committed to our original objectives as we ever have been.

It's About Partnership

Aquascot has been a dedicated partner of Waitrose since 2003, and our relationship goes back even further than that.

Together, we set high standards, share a passion for great-tasting, nutritious food and continue to invest in the Scottish salmon industry.

Aquascot's Role

Shared Ambition for Continuous Improvement

As a forward-thinking company that engages with all manner of other organisations - customers, suppliers, farmers, community groups, academics and NGOs - we know we're not alone in striving for continuous improvement and raising standards.

In fact, it's this shared ambition that stimulates progress, necessitates innovation and ensures that we operate the right way for our people, our customers and the fish that we supply to retailers across the UK.

We look to take a leading role in ensuring that employment, welfare standards and growth in the Scottish salmon industries are healthy and are all too happy to support our local communities in the process.
