We set off on this adventure in 1987. Our plan was to grow a business built on high quality food farmed in the sea. Salmon farming then was a new activity. By 2000 an integrated organisation had developed with fresh and salt water farms, processing plants and a diverse international customer base.
We decided to sell the company that year – to take it to the next stage would require big investment, particularly in farming infrastructure.
In 2003 a few of us decided to peel off from what was by then the large multinational feed and farming business Cermaq to pick up on unfinished business. In a win-win deal we took back the Aquascot name and the processing plant in Alness, near Inverness.
Our objective – then and now – was to build a unique community of fishermen, farmers, processors, retailers and consumers passionate about great quality and taste, sustainability, fair trade and animal welfare.
